Work Diary - Initial Response Shoot

Evaluation

During this shoot, i focused on the evidence of human civilisation. This led me to shoot photos of litter, cigarette and tobacco packets, bags, and clutter in general. For an initial shoot, the idea was simple and ordinary, which is why there isn't much variety within my images. I didn't particularly enjoy this shoot because I felt a bit lost in what i wasn't meant to be shooting photographs of.

This is one of the photographs that I took during this shoot. This represents civilisation because it shows that someone has littered. It is also personal as we know that the person who littered, is a smoker because it is a tobacco packet. I like this image because the packet is trapped in between branches and twigs, and we can also see that it is wet from where it has rained. This signifies the contrast between natural and artificial.

This is another photo from my shoot. It clearly represents human life as we  can see that this desk is rather cluttered, and personal. This allows us to empathise with the owner of the desk as we can relate it to our own lives. I also like how they're a lot of different objects within the image, so there isn't one main focal point, which allows us to focus on the entire image, rather than one part of it.

Progression

As I didn't enjoy this shoot, I want to move on with the same idea of human cicivilizationbut look at it from a different angle. I want to find other subjects which represent the evidence of human life. For instance, in my next shoot I plan to take photographs of buildings, shops, cars, pathways, signs and symbols etc. This will allow me to work with other aspects of human civilization, and explore the topic in order to find something which i enjoy taking photos of. I searched on the internet for inspiration for my next shoot, and these are the images that I found:
