Jenn Ackerman

Jenn Ackerman and Tim Gruber are Minneapolis Photographers who specialise in editorial, commercial and advertising photography. These photos are from a shoot that Ackerman did, in which she photographed mentally ill inmates inside Kentucky prison. These images are evidence of mental illness and disorders. I would like to use Ackerman as influence for my work at some point in this project, as i would also like to shoot photographs which represent mental health. 

Weegee

Weegee, born as Ascher (Usher) Felliga, was a photographer and photojournalist of the 1930s-1960s. He is known for his stark black and white photography. Weegee worked in Manhattan, as a press photographer, and developed his signature style by following the city's emergency serves and documenting their activity. Most of Weegee's work shows explicit content of crime scenes and horrific accidents. This is evidence of crime. At some point in my photography, I may take this influence from Weegee and photograph some of my own 'crime scene' photographs. 

Joe Melchione

Joe Melchione is a self taught photographer, that remains to print his photographs with film, as he his reluctant to join the modern, "digital revolution". He shoots mainly what he witnesses himself. I chose to research Melchione because I interpret that evidence is shown through out his work. In the images that i have included, there is evidence of decay, rust, weathering and emotion.

Gabriel Orozco

Gabriel Orozco is a mexican artist. I chose to research his photography work because i think that they display evidence of human presence and civilisation. As this is linked to my work in this project, I would like to research further into his photography and find more inspiration. 

Jane Dorn

Jane Dorn is a graphic designer, photographer and educator. She has recently completed a graduate degree in Graphic Design. I like Dorn's work because it's simplistic, yet extraordinary. I also think her work relates to photos that i may take for this project, as they represent human presence and civilsation.

Aaron Ruell

Derek Aaron Ruell is an American director and photographer. I chose his photography work to research because i think that some of his work displays evidence of every day life, but from a more personal perspective. I like how he takes photos of ordinary rooms within a house, and yet they look so simplistic, but so realistic which makes them appealing to look at. 

Laura Letinsky

When researching Laura Letinsky, i discovered that she is a Canadian contemporary photographer, and that she is best known for her still life photography work, which is said to allude to human presence, without including physical figures or actual people. I like the idea of being able to represent people, without actually showing them within the photograph. This clearly links with my subject of evidence, and i would like to look into Laura Letinsky's work and use it as influence for my own.

Mary Mccloskey

Once looking into Mary Mccloskey's work, I instantly noticed that her work displayed evidence of light. After reading about Mccloskey, I found out that she focuses on the natural world, including light and memory. Mccloskey has written on her website that she believes she came into photography late, after spending years as a writer. 

Jim Henderson

Jim Henderson is known for creating what probably is, the largest collection of Scottish Aurora images known. Henderson began taking photograph's of the Aurora Borealis in Scotland in 1989. Which led him to begin photographing over 350 Northern Light displays. I chose to study his work because it documents the evidence of natural, colourful light. 

Janusz Wanczyk

Janusz Wanczyk is a 51 year old photographer from Poland. Wanczyk has been producing photography work for six years, and is known for his mountain landscapes, misty mornings and capturing unusual phenomena of nature. His work that has been produced in the morning caught my eye the most, as he has captured a few photos with the sun rising, and the sun shining through mountains and trees etc., and i really like his work. 

Tom Hussey

Tom Hussey is an American photographer, who specializes in commercial advertising and lifestyle photography. I have chosen to research him because his "Reflections of the Past" work caught my eye. Hussey has used elderly models, and posed them in front of a mirror, whereby he has manipulated the reflection of "them" as young and youthful. I like this work a lot because it is evidence of ageing and growing up, which links to something i could look into doing in this project, but it is also extremely appealing and interesting to look at.

Bob Martin

Bob Martin has won many awards whilst photographing sports, he specialises in shooting action, graphic and editorial photographs for clients. Martin's career has developed immensely over the last thirty years, which has allowed him to photograph major sporting events and travel the world, including shooting for the Olympics. I chose to feature Martin's photography work because the action within his photographs have enabled him to capture fast, extreme movement. 

Alan Babbitt

Alan Babbit has been photographing since the early 1970s, and has been producing fine art photography since then. He calls his work "UnStill Photography" and has used his hand tremor as an advantage and an addition to his photography. I enjoyed researching his work, as he has captured movement in lots of different ways. 

Ken Ohara

Ken Ohara is a Japanese photographer, and is known for his extremely close-up portraits of people's faces. I chose to research into his work because these portraits show evidence of identification, however, in some of his photographs, he has blurred the face of the person within them. This prevents the viewer from identifying the person, which withdraws the "evidence".

Stephen Shore

Stephen Shore has been a widely published photographer for the last forty years, and even has books of his photographs, one of which is "The Nature of Photographs". I chose to research his work because it related to the evidence of identity, human presence and existence and every day life. These topics link with the project I am currently doing, and Shore's work is great influence for my own photography. 

Jill Greenberg

Jill Greenberg is an American artist and photographer. I enjoyed researching Greenberg's work, and came across one of her projects. I was intrigued to find out that Greenberg photographed young children, and in order to catch them at an emotional state, she gave them a lollipop and then took it away for 30 seconds before giving it back. This enabled her to take photos of them crying, screaming, shouting for it back. I was interested in this particular shoot because it shows the evidence of  emotion, in such a realistic way. 

Nills Müller

Nills Müller was a former graffiti artist, and taught himself photography so that he could capture his graffiti work as well as take photos of creating it. I chose to look at Müller's work because graffiti is vandalism, which could link to my topic of evidence, as i could use Müller's work as influence to represent the evidence of vandalism, damage, crime etc.

John Feist

John Feist has been a photographer for the majority of his life, and then began to sell his work after listening to others advice. His main focus is the natural world, as seen in his images, which mostly contain animals, birds, plants as well as scenic and landscape shots. I chose to look at Feist's work because he captures the beauty of the natural world. Some of his images have also captured different types of weather, like spring, winter etc. Which I could use as influence for a shoot in my project.

Bobby Neel Adams

Bobby Neel Adams was born in North Carolina, and is known for his "Age Gaps/Family Tree" photographs whereby he merges the photographs of the same individual, as child and as an adult. He is currently working on a series of photographs of birds, insects and mammals. I like Adams' concept of showing ageing and growing up through a photo montage of two images. 

Cara Phillips

Cara Phillips was born in Detroit, she has a history with the beauty industry as she was a child model, and then became a makeup artist in her adulthood. However, she returned to school to study photography and since graduating in 2007, she has focused solely on her work and has collaborated with other photographers in numerous projects. I chose to feature Phillips' portraits where she puts the model under a UV light, because it brought out their freckles and other features of their face that we can't usually see. I liked the idea of this shoot because it signifies unknown and unseen evidence, which links with my current work. 

Laura Williams

Laura Williams is a UK aspiring graphic designer and photographer, currently studying graphic design at Brighton University. I enjoyed looking at her work and was influenced by many of her shots. At first, i wouldn't have thought her work would relate to 'Evidence' but after looking into her work further, i realised that her work is evidence of distortion, optical illusions and imagination. I like her work a lot and it has influenced my ideas for a shoot.
